Specifications of ASTM A105 Flanges
This designation covers standards for forged carbon steel piping components, that is, flanges, fittings, valves, and kindred components, for use in pressure systems at ambient and higher-temperature accommodation conditions. Materials shall be subjected to heat treatment (annealing, normalizing, tempering, or quenching). Material shall conform to carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, nickel, chromium, and molybdenum and vanadium contents. The forgings shall be subjected to tension, hardness and hydrostatic tests, with the latter applicable when required. Material shall adhere to tensile vigor, yield vigor, elongation, truncation of area, and hardness requisites. Guidelines for retreatment, repair by welding, and product marking are given.
Below the specified carbon maximum (0.35 %), an increase of 0.06 % manganese above the specified maximum (1.05 %) will be permitted up to a maximum of 1.35 %.
